This just in! Robbie Bach, president of entertainment and devices at Microsoft, will be doing a special one-off presentation at the New Law School Auditorium next Tuesday 9th of Feb.

Details are few, however SUITS will be there and so will demos of Microsoft devices including Microsoft Surface, Windows Phones & Xbox Live products.

Sydney NYE 2010

Happy New Year SUITS people! Start of a new decade and start of a new chapter of SUITS (as corny as it may sound).

2010 has a whole feast of offerings for our SUITS members with many things in the works. First off the we have O-Week 2010 to look forward too! O-Week at Sydney Uni attracts 15 000 students and is the largest event of its type in the Southern Hemisphere. SUITS will be there in full force for all three days!

Side Note: We are looking for volunteers for our O week Stall so if your interested in coming aboard please do email us at suits (at) it.usyd.edu.au

Stuff to look forward too:

• SUITS O-Week Guitar Hero Competition! 24th of Feb
• SUITS O-Week Stall 24th-26th (did someone say free-stuff?)
• Trivia returns again for 2010
• Bi-Monthly Consol Gaming Nights
• NEW Lunchtime ‘Hack’ Sessions - Casual hour(y) presentations from SUITS and friends on anything. Code, hacks, Games, Mods, Hardware…
• NEW Spotlight Lecture Series - Keynote lecture series that will (hopefully) showcase the amazing research and partners of SUITS. Definitely something to look forward too.

Some of the SUITS collective at the IT End of Year Dinner

The year is well and truly coming to the end with exams now all but in the past and Christmas/holidays to enjoy!

SUITS has had a great year with our last two events, the Trivia Night and End of Year Dinner, being a great success. Trivia night packed out with a strong crowd of after-assessment drinkers, pre-exam procrastinators and students from all over the uni. Many a free drink was given away and with the final group winners walking away with 5 free movie passes at the end. Many thanks to all SUITS members who helped out on the night and with the questions. We will undoubtedly be running more Trivia nights next year., photos from the night to come soon.

The annual SIT End Of Year Dinner took place a few weeks ago with a great attendance from both alumni and current students. There were glowing reports of the years activities from acting head of IT, Alan Fekete, Professor Judy Kay, Alumni president Mark Webb as well as SUITS new president Steven Merity.It was a great dinner and great opportunity for students to interact with some of the IT Alumni!

To usher in the start of summer and the end of another year of studies SUITS will be putting on its first ‘major’ event of 09, a Trivia Night at Manning Bar!

With different question sections, prizes, food and drink give-aways it should be a great night of fun and also a good chance for SUITS to get  the wider USYD community involved.

So if your free that night, definitely come down and join in!  Tickets are only $10 for access members or $15 for anyone else, this includes:

• 3 Drinks of choice (beer, wine, soft drinks or house spirits)
• Food on the night (huge amounts of pizza!)
• & Trivia Comp Entry!!

as well as:

• Winners of each section to receive a prize
• overall winners to receive a major prize which will be announced later in the week
• and student DJs to warm-up the bar from 5pm!

Tickets will be sold at the SUITS BBQ this Thursday and on the night and throughout the week in the IT Building during lunch times. If you know a SUITS executive you can also grab one through them!
