Welcome and ‘SUITS Night’

Hello all,
I’m Ben the SUITS Event Coordinator and this semester I’m going to be running this Event Blog. Basically the purpose of this blog is to discuss whats been happening, what is going to happen and hopefully get some feedback from those of you reading this. I think that this blog can become a great accompaniment to the Newsletter (just a little more wordy and a little more personal) and a decent read for all SUITS members.

Camp 2008 Wrap Up

In 2008, SUITS ran a camp in the mid-year break, during which our members worked on interesting IT based projects.

What do you do on an IT camp? Why should I go?

Many groups on campus run camps and though they have various purposes they are all a lot of fun. They mean getting together with not just 3 or 4 friends, but 30 or 40 friends and hanging out for not just a few hours, but a few days.

Like most camps ours has two dimensions, one that is SUITS specific, (project development), and another that isn’t, (socialising!). You can read all the details below, but the short version is that in the evenings we have a range of fun activities planned, which will be followed by various card games and other fun stuff late into the night. During the day we will all be working on our own ideas, trying to build something from nothing in just four days. The something could be just about anything – a short film, a new web-app, a VR hardware system, or who knows what (hopefully you’ve got a few ideas up your sleeve).
