We run event on a regular basis throughout the semester. Come along and have fun, meet new people and make new friends. Even though you must be a member to come to events, joining the club is free for USU members! You’ll notice that the majority of our events have either free or discounted food for members.

We also have a Google calendar which you can add to your Google calendars so you can be in the loop of what’s happenning.

 

You can also join the mailing list to be kept updated on these when they’re coming up.

Social Nights

Every Wednesday night of this semester we have a social evening planned. The activities vary between console gaming, trivia, computer games, semi-formal dinners, film-making and more! Most weeks also have free dinner included.

LAN Gaming Nights

We are holding four evenings of multiplayer games in the IT building this semester, in weeks 3, 5, 8 and 11. Come along on Wednesday night at 6pm for a lot of fun and food (also watch out for news about joint LAN events with Sutekh).

BBQs

This semester we are holding weekly BBQs from week two until week six. Come down to the SIT Forecourt for a tasty, and cheap, lunch with friends. It’s all you can eat, with lettuce, tomato, biscuits, and more (e.g. last semester we had mini ice creams).

Algorithms and Problem Solving

This semester we are holding a weekly practise session on Friday 3pm – 4:30pm and a series of competitions. The aim is to try to solve interesting problems and have fun doing other programming related activities – check out the page for a week by week breakdown of our plan.

Seminars

We’ve run seminars regularly in the past, with presenters from a range of sources mainly focusing on employment opportunities both over the summer break and full-time. But we won’t be running them regularly this time around. If you have an idea, we’re always willing to take requests!

Camp

We ran a successful and really enjoyable camp in the mid-year break last year, so expect to hear more about it soon.

Event Ideas/ Helping out

We would love for you to suggest ideas for events to us. To give you inspiration, we have listed a few ideas below:
