    Hi Edmond
I’d love to play with a full release of Windows Server 2008, especially Hyper-V. Does the ‘candidate’. Does your ‘release candidate’ have limited functionality or a time limit?

    Thx

    Gordon

The release candidate of Windows Server 2008 was meant for people to play with before the product came out and so although it is fully functional, it still is a time-sensitive software, i.e. expired. You can still download a trial version of Server 2008 that runs for 60 days (extendable to 240 days) from Microsoft’s website (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2008/en/us/try-it.aspx).

However, there’s good news: You can get yourself some free software from Microsoft directly simply because you’re a student! Just hop on to http://www.dreamspark.com, verify yourself as a student, and you can download Windows Server 2003, Visual Studio 2008, Expression Studio 2, XNA Game Studio 2 absolutely free. The only catch is, Sydney Uni’s student verification system doesn’t work yet, and the only way you can verify your students status is to get an ISIC card (http://www.isiccard.com.au/).
