Today I am here to share some great news about our society. We now have a room within the School of IT to call our own. The SUITS R&R Room is a place to hang out, rest, relax, play games, read books and chat. It’s located on the 2nd floor of SIT to the left of the Elevators.

As a society we have never really had a home. We have been drifting among rooms in the School of IT, from the couches, to the boardroom and sometimes even the tea room. Finally we have somewhere to make our own. A hang out area for all SUITS members. We have over the past few months been donated a lot of great stuff. We currently have two TVs (c/o Bob Kummerfeld, Judy K and CHAI), Two Couches (c/o Bob Kummerfeld and Judy K), an Xbox (c/o Sam Harding), a PS2 (c/o Sam Harding), a N64 (on loan from Liviu Constantinescu), a Sega Megadrive (on loan from Aaron Cowie), a 5.1 speaker system and as of yesterday an Xbox 360. If anyone has anything they think could benefit the room that they no longer use, please feel free to drop it by, whether its on loan or a donation to the Society.

This room will unfortunately be locked due to the amount of valuables in the room, however if there is an exec around they will let you in. All you have to do is knock. We also have a few restrictions on the room which I will post here.

Conditions of entry:
1. Keep the room clean, take your rubbish with you
2. Respect others, share the controllers
3. Keep the noise down, theres research going on nextdoor
4. If there is no exec in the room, there is no one else in the room
5. You will not take any gear outside of the room
6. We are not responsible for anything you leave in the room

I encourage you all to check out the room when you can. During the week its likely someone will be in there at some point. If you have any more questions about the room you can email suits@it.usyd.edu.au. I’ll leave you with a few photos of the room.

So last week we had our second Console Gaming Night and this week we had our second LAN Gaming night for the semester. Both went off really well and everyone involved surely had excellent fun. The Console Gaming Night was definitely a success as usual, we managed to bring along an Xbox 360, a Wii, A Nintendo 64, An Xbox and Guitar Hero for Mac. The LAN Night had our usual suite of LAN Games including Starcraft, Worms World Party, Tremulous, Open Arena and Enemy Territory. Watch this space because both these events will get bigger as the semester moves on. We are looking to spend some extra money on games for our LAN night, you’ll hear about this. Not to mention that next Console Night will have more games, more consoles and will hopefully be even more fun.
