Iâ€™d like to welcome all our new members to SUITS for 2009. Thank you to everyone who came and visited us at O-Week and hope youâ€™ve had some pre-semester fun on the N64 there.

If you havenâ€™t got your SUITS T-shirt yet, thereâ€™s still a chance. We do have some stock left, and itâ€™d be wise to get in quick before they all run out. Drop by next Wednesday at the BBQ next week or the Console Night to grab a feed and get your trendy new SUITS T-Shirt.

O-Week 2008 Wrap Up

Congratulations to James Bank for winning the SUITS major prize – an iPod Nano contributed by Optiver. The winner was drawn from everyone who had joined SUITS as a member and was present at the SIT Welcome during O-Week.

Also, congratulations to those winners of our wonder O-Week daily prize draw, contributed by Microsoft.

The Wednesday prize: Microsoft Expression Web – won by Cleslie Figuron
The Thursday prize: 1GB USB thumb drive – won by Sheila Uyirwoth
The Friday prize: HALO 2 game – won by Paul Lui

If you are a winner, you will be in contact shortly by email. If I still can’t make contact with you before next Friday 7 Mar 08, then another name will be drawn out of the box as the winner instead.

To everyone else who didn’t win, don’t worry because there’ll be much more opportunities to obtain free stuff by staying in SUITS.

Computer Gaming

It’s time to brush up on your gaming skills – this year SUITS will be holding an O-Week LAN gaming event! The games will be running continuously from 9 till 4 over the first two days of O-Week (Wednesday and Thursday), and will be held in the Carslaw computer labs (Room 202A).

Games will include Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, Nexuiz, OpenArena, FreeCiv, Command and Conquer, and StarCraft. The event will be completely free of charge.

Prize draw

This year an I-pod nano has been provided by Optiver as a prize for O-Week. Any member who joins before 11am on Friday the 29th of February will be eligible to win, (with the exception of members of our executive, who may not win). We will draw the winner randomly at some point during the IT welcome. If the winner is not present we will redraw until a winner is found.
