This week for SUITS night, will be a LAN Night.

So come down to Carslaw Computer Lab 202C this Wednesday, 15 Oct 08, from 5pm-8pm and join in the fun!

Just as with most other SUITS events, there’ll be plenty of FREE food, fun and ownage. So drop on in!

First Social Night Recap

Hi Everyone!

So this week on wednesday we held our first Social Night ever and our first BBQ for this semester. Both went really well and everyone seemed to have lots of fun. The Social Night was very successful and I was happy with the turn out. I think we all had a good time playing Super Smash Brothers Brawl, Halo 3, Guitar Hero 3, Goldeneye and many more.

I’d like to thank everyone who contributed by helping set up, pack up or letting us use their consoles or console related paraphernalia. I’d also like to thank the staff at SIT who helped us out with organising and getting the right gear for the night.

I’ll leave you all with some pictures of the event.

Welcome and ‘SUITS Night’

Hello all,
I’m Ben the SUITS Event Coordinator and this semester I’m going to be running this Event Blog. Basically the purpose of this blog is to discuss whats been happening, what is going to happen and hopefully get some feedback from those of you reading this. I think that this blog can become a great accompaniment to the Newsletter (just a little more wordy and a little more personal) and a decent read for all SUITS members.

Next week will mark the start of our first week of events for 2008 Semester 2 and with it we will see the first ever SUITS Night. This semester we have a few new plans. The exec has decided that while previous semesters have been good, SUITS has not been focused enough on having fun. So the SUITS Night is our way of fixing this problem. Every Wednesday night we will have food, drink and some sort of fun event planned. Our first SUITS Night (Wednesday 6th August) will be a console gaming and general fun event. We really hope everyone can drop by, eat some free food and hang out for a few hours. More information about this will be in the next Newsletter. As for the rest of the semester, we have some great ideas involving cameras, trivia and the return of our famous LANs, just with more games.

BBQs will also be returning this semester, continuing our support of cheap and delicious food. We expect these to be very similar to last semester, except with better salad and more delicious dessert. Expect to see details for the first one (currently planned for Wednesday Week 2) in the Newsletter. Our Algorithms and Problem Solving events will be changing appearance this semester. Instead of weekly training in the evenings we have three weekend competitions planned, and a more focused event during the day once a week (timing to be decided very soon, based on your preferences). Watch out for more info in the next newsletter.

Finally I’d like to thank everyone for making last semester so great, this semester is looking good and with enough support from all our members I think we can make it the best semester for SUITS so far!
